Getting Here

Bocas Del Toro’s small airport is a 10-minute walk or two-minute taxi ride from the downtown area. Bocas del Toro typically picks up guests at Divers Paradise Boutique Hotel in downtown Bocas Town. However, we can pick you up at a different dock if you prefer. From there, it’s a 10- to 15-minute boat ride to our serene resort.

Bocas Del Toro Via Panama City, Panama (Recommended)

If you take an early morning flight, you can typically make it to Bocas Del Toro in one day from the U.S.  If you are traveling from Europe, you may need to spend a night in Panama City between flights. The regional flight to Bocas Del Toro is not available on online booking sites. You will need to book this flight on www.AirPanama.com.

Your flight into Tocumen Intl Airport (PTY) in Panama City should arrive no later than 2:35 p.m to make it to Bocas Del Toro in one day. This allows for one hour from the time you land to complete customs, collect luggage, and get a taxi. It’s a 40-minute drive to Albrook Regional Airport (PAC), and you’ll have about one hour before your 50-minute flight to Bocas Town. This assumes you have booked the 5:15 p.m. flight on Air Panama to Bocas Town.

As you exit the luggage area, taxis will be available. Just tell them you would like to go to Albrook Airport. It is typically a 30-minute drive depending on traffic. The taxi drivers are generally friendly and will charge $30-$40 dollars. Make sure to agree to an amount before entering the taxi. You will need cash in U.S. dollars; they do not take credit cards. (All ground transportation is included in our packages)

The 50-minute flight from Albrook Domestic Airport (PAC) to Bocas Del Toro Airport (BOC) must be booked directly through Air Panama (www.AirPanama.com.) If you use an online booking site and designate BOC as your destination, it will show no available flights.

Air Panama runs four flights a day, seven days a week from Albrook to Bocas Del Toro. These four flight times are 6:30 a.m., 9:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 5:15 p.m. The flights average $220 per round-trip ticket. Air Panama asks you to arrive two hours before departure, but we find that one hour before departure is enough.

You can easily book a hotel in Panama City if you cannot make it to Bocas Del Toro in one day. We even recommend that you spend a night or two in Panama City if time permits. Casco Viejo is our favorite area; it’s only about 10 minutes from Albrook and 30 minutes from Tocumen via taxi. Casco Viejo is a vibrant, historic section of Panama City with rooftop bars, shopping, and restaurants. It is more expensive than the city but worth the experience.

In addition to Casco Viejo, many upscale hotels in Panama City cost a fraction of the price you would expect to pay in a large city. It is not unusual to find a bargain price of less than $100 a night for a beautiful hotel in the heart of the city.

Bocas Del Toro Via San Jose, Costa Rica

It typically takes two days when traveling from the U.S. or Europe through Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) in San Jose Costa Rica to Bocas Del Toro Airport (BOC). Two regional airlines offer 50-minute flights between San Jose and Bocas Del Toro. One is Skyway www.skywaycr.com  and the second is Aerobell www.aerobell.com.
