Many visitors rate Monkey Island as their favorite tour in the region. Here, several species of orphaned monkeys belong to a troop that socializes, grooms, and plays together every day.

Monkey Island began when Francine Roy adopted an orphaned capuchin monkey in 2013 while living in Bocas del Toro. Over the years, she’s adopted additional monkeys abandoned by their pet owners or orphaned due to habitat loss or hunting. Francine founded the Monkey Island Foundation with a mission to offer lifelong care for monkeys separated from their families at a young age.

During the tour, Francine will teach you about the biodiversity of Panama’s primate wildlife and the qualities that make each species unique. Plus, you’ll have a chance to meet the resident monkeys.

Most people spend a couple of hours on the small island. In addition to the tour, guests can snorkel, swim, play water volleyball, or relax in a hammock. Lunch is available upon request, as well as cocktails, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages.
